For a few years now, I’ve been devoted to keeping my body free and clear of chemicals. This has meant using more natural beauty products. It hasn’t always been easy to find the right replacements for my favorite products, but I am really happy with the switch, especially knowing I am protecting my body from harm. Unfortunately, many don’t know of the dangers in their beauty products, particularly in their feminine products. But. tampons and pads are full of toxins, including synthetic fibers, bleach, fragrance, dyes, and chemical additives. Luckily, there are a variety of brands out there that offer an alternative, LOLA is one of them.
While I tend to gravitate towards using a menstrual cup, I still keep tampons around for certain situations, and I always bring them with me when I travel. Since making the switch, I always use natural and organic brands, so I was excited to give LOLA a try. Since I’d like to reduce my carbon footprint, I went with the non-applicator tampons. Because there are no applicators, the packages are even smaller, making them more discrete, which I like. But, this is just the beginning of my love affair with LOLA. Here are a few reasons why I think you should give them a try.
Their Only Ingredient: Organic Cotton
As I mentioned, feminine products are full of chemicals and materials that are harmful to our bodies. As women, we use tampons and pads for years, and eventually that exposure to chemicals can cause issues like abnormal cell growth and endocrine system disruption. Scary stuff! LOLA is clear about their product ingredients and it’s listed right on the back of the box: 100% organic cotton. It also states that there are no synthetics or additives, and they are unscented, hypoallergenic, and biodegradable.
They Get Mailed to Your Doorstep
LOLA couldn’t be more convenient. You go online, pick out what you want, and when you want them delivered. Then, they show up at your doorstep. There’s no more worrying about being prepared each month or running out in the middle of your cycle. If you need to adjust anything, you just head to their website and make your changes. It’s that easy.
You Can Customize Your Box
This part is pretty cool because everyone has a different cycle. So, Lola lets you tailor your box to your needs. Each box of applicator or non-applicator tampons, ultra-thin liners or ultra-thin pad with wings can be customized to your needs. Then, you pick out how many boxes you need and the frequency of delivery. Their white and blue boxes, with a simple logo, make me wonder why every feminine product doesn’t look like this. It’s a nice change from the hot pink boxes.
They Perfect for Travel
They are also the perfect packing size, taking up barely any space in my bag. In the past, if bringing tampons on a trip, I’d have to unload them from a box and put them in a Ziploc bag or just throw them in the bag. With Lola, I can keep them in the box and I’m good to go.
LOLA Gives Back!
When a product gives back to the community, it feels good making a purchase. Millions of low-income women in the U.S. struggle to make ends met, and often have to choose between feeding and taking care of their families or taking care of themselves. In homeless shelters, feminine products are the most needed and least donated item. But, LOLA is trying to change that. Since launching, LOLA has donated 100,000 feminine care products to women in need. Their website also shows where in the United States these tampons have been donated and encourages you to get involved.
Even with all of this, what I love most about LOLA is that it feels empowering. There’s none of that typical marketing and you’re able to feel in control of your period. Products like that are a winner in my book. Subscriptions can be made online and cancelled at anytime. New customers get two boxes for the price of one or three boxes for the price of two, but for a limited time (until March 31st), you’ll get 60% with the code WANDER.
