A Morning of Eating and Shopping in Newport, Rhode Island

During a recent wedding weekend in Narragansett, Rhode Island, my Mom and I had some free time, so we decided to spend it in Newport. It had been almost 15 years since we had both been back in the town, and we were excited to rediscover the place we had fallen in love with years ago.

Only about twenty minutes from where we were staying, we drove into town, parked the car, and headed straight for the water and shops at Bowen Wharf, it was a beautiful day and we wanted to fully enjoy it.

We found ourselves wandering in and out of the shops around the water. I didn’t plan on buying anything, but I found a few things and couldn’t help myself. Since switching over to more natural beauty products, I have been looking for a new body lotion. I picked up a bottle of Shore Soap Company lotion in Warm Sand at Soap & Water.

While the scent was what drew me to the product, the fact that it’s handcrafted in Rhode Island using quality and natural ingredients and bottled in glass is what made me make my purchase. Now, every time I put it on, I’m reminded of the ocean and Newport. Plus, it keeps me moisturized longer than any product I have used in the past. I will absolutely be purchasing more of this lotion in the future.

Then, we headed to Chace N’ Lulu, an adorable boutique with great dresses and jewelry. Even though I brought a dress with me for the wedding, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the long maxi dresses in the store. After trying on a few, I fell in love with turquoise dress that made me feel like a mermaid; it felt perfect for the occasion.

With those two purchases, I was done shopping and we found our way to The Landing for lunch. We got the perfect table that looked out over the water. There, we split calamari and a Baja fish wrap, along with enjoying a sangria and Bloody Mary.

After lunch, we sadly left the town of Newport behind us for a nap and the wedding festivities that evening. Still, I am so glad we took the small time we had and put it to good use.

There’s so much more to explore outside of Bowen’s Wharf, but sometimes, you have to just enjoy the time you get. Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to visit again one day soon to rediscover the place I have loved for years.

Spread the love

I have a soft spot for New England, maybe because I’m a history nerd and love US history. It’s a wonder I haven’t explored that region more. I’d love to go on a shopping spree with you, Erin! We share an interest in dresses (ha!) and green, cruelty-free products, so I know it would be a great outing. 🙂

I’ve never been to Rhode Island but Newport is a place I’ve read about and do have an interest in visiting. It’s one of the things I hate about living in the South is being so far from some cool destinations like this. It’s one of the many attractions to living in the Northeast.
