My @GoWithOh Apartment Experience

My @GoWithOh Apartment Experience

Throughout my travels I have stayed in many different types of accommodations. There have been guest houses in Thailand, hostels in New York, resorts in the Caribbean, bed and breakfasts in Ireland, college dorms in London, and with family and friends in houses throughout Europe. But, the one way I had never traveled was by staying in an apartment.

After reading about other travelers’ experiences with GoWithOh apartments for over a year, I knew that I would love to try traveling this way. As luck would have it, a contest opened up and I won. Suddenly, I was on my way to Barcelona with an apartment to myself; I couldn’t have been more excited.

After two days in London, I arrived in Barcelona ready to explore the city. At the airport, I called ClassBedroom Apartments, the company that cares for the apartment I had reserved, and told them I would be making my way to the apartment. After I spoke to someone, I jumped in a taxi and was on my way.

When I arrived in Gràcia, my neighborhood for the few days I was in Barcelona, I immediately fell in love. Without even going inside the apartment, I knew I would have a hard time leaving just three days later.

A few minutes after I arrived, I met up with Vanessa, and we ventured inside the apartment. After walking up one flight of stairs, we entered my temporary home, and she gave me a quick tour. Then she handed me a map of the city and asked if I had any ideas of what I wanted to see or if I need some suggestions.

From there, she took out her pen and gave me several directions – metro and walking – to many of the sites I would want to see. I was relived to see that many of them were in the vicinity of my apartment, which meant I could wander around, just the way I liked it. Then, Vanessa made sure I had her cell phone number, e-mail, and emergency contact information just in case, before she headed on her way.

All at once, the excitement surrounded me. It may have only been for three days, but I had a gorgeous apartment in the middle of Barcelona all to myself; it was pure joy.

The apartment was open and airy, perfect for anything I needed. But, my absolute favorite part was the outdoor terrace. The weather was warmer than it was at home, so I found any excuse to get myself outside. I’d sit and look at what was going on in the apartments around me, stare up at the sky, and during the middle of the day, it was the perfect spot to get some writing done. In the city, it was a quiet sanctuary to collect my thoughts and absorb myself in life far from home.

The best part of staying in a GoWithOh apartment, was that I was able to fully immerse myself in the city and culture. I truly felt as though I had my very own place to call home in Barcelona.

When I visit a new city, it’s important for me to see the place I am visiting from the locals’ perspective, and I think that this experience really helped me do that. Instead of feeling like a visitor, I felt right at home. Without a doubt, I would suggest staying in an apartment through GoWithOh. It was well-organized, clean, and the best part was the feeling of actually living within the city I was visiting.

I am a firm believer in apartments when traveling. I’ve stayed in them in several large cities. I find that it gets you into the neighborhood more than a hotel. I don’t need the amenities that hotels provide. Also, I have found in many instances that apartments in a choice location are more affordable than hotels.
