Turning Twenty-Nine

Today is my twenty-ninth birthday, and I am elated to be spending it in beautiful South Beach, Miami with one of my very best friends. Twenty-nine is an age where I always expected my life to be in one place, but it’s very far from there. Still, even opposite of expectations, I have never been happier.

South Beach life.

Getting older has never worried me, in fact, with each year, I look back at who I was and what I learned, and look forward to all the adventures that are yet to come. Each year, I love the person I have grown into more and more; this year is no different.

Twenty-eight was a trying year in many ways, but it was still a good year. I made new friends, had new adventures, and explored more of the world. There’s nothing more I could have asked for.

Still, all this week, at many moments I couldn’t help but think of one of my favorite quotes from Walt Disney,

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

It’s a constant reminder to me, that life is not meant to be lived backward. My past years have been nothing short of amazing, but what I have planned for this year will be no comparison. I am going after all of my dreams, and not letting anyone tell me that I won’t be able to reach them.

Right now, I am on the brink of getting all that I wanted out of my life, and I feel it in every way imaginable. Something big is on its way. While I am not entirely sure where it will lead me, I will continue pushing forward and opening up new doors, and doing new things. Because, I am as Walt Disney was, curious. Curious about the world. Curious about life. Curious about living a life that most only dream of.

Pure happiness in South Beach.

Twenty-nine is going to be one of the best years of my life. It will push me out of my comfort zone and change me in ways I could have only imagined. What lies in store for me in the next twelve months? Soon enough you’ll find out. But after London and Barcelona, there’s a lot in store for 2014. I can’t wait to take you on my journey.

For now, I will stick to sipping cocktails on the beach, and enjoying every single moment of twenty-nine.
