A Wish to Spend New Year’s Eve in Barcelona

Many people believe that New Year’s Eve is overrated, but I think it is magical. It’s that one moment of the year, where you stand back, reflect on all that has passed, and look forward in hope to the coming year. Sometimes letting go of a year is hard, especially when that year has held so many wonderful memories, but other times, letting go is easy because we know that what’s ahead of us is better than what we leave behind. With each New Year’s Eve, we are all given a fresh start, a clean slate; what could be more magical than that?

New Year's Eve in Edinburgh.

For me, the last few months have been less than magical. That’s not to say that they’ve been all bad, but I have had my share of sadness and rough patches. I smiled through a lot of it, and tried to stay as positive as possible, but there’s no denying the changes that have occurred over the last few months, changes I didn’t want, changes I wasn’t ready for. But, that is what life does, right? Changes our direction unexpectedly, not heeding our protests and giving us little time to adjust.

I have powered through the weeks and months with strength I barely knew I had and truly feel that I deserve something magical. I deserve a way to send this past year off, and fully celebrate all the good that lies ahead for me; Barcelona is where I want to do it. In order to make this happen, I need a little help from GowithOh. I want to be one of their guest testers.

Choosing a destination was easy, as I have already been to many of the cities where GowithOh has apartments, but Barcelona is one place I have always dreamed of, but have never been. To me, it seems like the perfect place to welcome in 2014. In fact, I had been planning on celebrating New Year’s Eve there back in 2011, but was saving up money for Africa and couldn’t make it happen. I feel like this is a chance to pick up planning where I left off two years ago.

Choosing an apartment, however, was not as easy. This is because there were so many beautiful ones to choose from, each apartment I looked at was better than the last. But, after an hour or two of browsing for the perfect place, I finally found the apartment that would make my travel dreams a reality.

With a large living space, balconies, and convenient location, this apartment is ideal for a stay with friends to ring in 2014 in style. There’s an awesome floor plan, and a color scheme that almost perfectly matches that of The World Wanderer. Can you say, “meant to be”? Clearly, I was destined to spend the last days of 2013 here.

As I said, I’d like to bring along a few friends to celebrate my new beginnings with me. These are the people who helped get me through the rough patches during this year. They were my backbone when I needed them, and I know that there’s absolutely no one else I’d rather spend my New Year’s Eve with.

People who got me through 2013.

So with good friends and a fabulous city, I would love nothing more than to win the role of guest tester with GowithOh to kick out the bad memories of 2013, and bring in new life to 2014. I know that if I can start off the new year on a positive note, the rest is going to fall in place, and I’ll be headed in the direction I’m meant to be going in.

Spread the love

I love your take on the New Years! This year, I believe, is going to be the most important one of my life. I have had some dramatic life changes this year, good and bad, and it is time for a change. I will be bringing in the New Year for a few short days in Hawaii which will also ring the start of a new life. Afterwards, I am going to continue on my journey of perpetual world travel… the start of the year seemed like a fitting time for the lifestyle change. This New Year will represent a lot for me as well as many others. It is great to see other people take it in like you are. Good read.

Thanks, Dave! I love that you’re spending NYE in Hawaii – sounds like the perfect place to end and begin a year! Also, the journey of perpetual travel. I am hoping I can get to that point soon. Glad this is representing a lifestyle change for you! Thanks so much for sharing it with me! 🙂

Good luck! Barcelona would be a great place to spend New Years! It’s my dream to go away for the holidays some year. Unfortunately, my work currently doesn’t allow vacation at the time. Thanks for the inspiration to use New Years as a time to let go. Here’s to better and brighter things ahead!

You will love Barcelona. I´m currently living there and it is a wonderful city full on inspiration and love. It has been one of my dreams to live here! It is a great way to start the new year and I am happy to hear that you are fulfilling one of your goals. I take New Year´s the same way and even this year it will be in a place that means a lot to me, it´s also a place that I want to start letting go. (not Barcelona!) Everything has it´s time and place. Positive thinking first!
Keep spreading the good cheer. I love everything that you write. It gives a big smile to my face!!
Keep it up and keep on going,
