Travel Announcement: South America!

Travel Announcement: South America!

At the start of this year, I decided that I wanted to spend my summer in South America, mainly because my goal has been to visit all seven continents before I turn thirty: South America and Antarctica. I even began South American Sunday to narrow down which country I would visit. However, after thinking about it, I held back and decided to save money this summer and thought I would be taking a cross country road trip instead. When that proved to be just as expensive, or more, than a trip to a foreign country, that idea also fell apart. Months away from summer, I was left with no real plans.

But, good things fall apart so better things can come together, right? That’s exactly what has happened. I was offered an opportunity to explore two South American countries, and I just couldn’t pass it up.

Which is why, in exactly one week (I can hardly believe it!), I will be off to Chile and Argentina for one week. I can barely contain my excitement, especially because I didn’t know this was going to be happening.

There are no real plans as of yet, but I do know that I will spend a few days in Santiago, Chile, and then head through the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina. It’s a dream trip, and it’s all happening so soon. I absolutely cannot wait!

My tickets have been bought, now all that’s left for me to do, is pack my bags…

Love it when exciting news comes together like that…have a great trip! Has been so long since my trip to Chile…I am afraid I don’t even have any current tips…just get out and enjoy. I remember Santiago being so vibrant and energized at night. You’ll have a blast!

Fabulous!!!! Santiago and Mendoza are on my itinerary for next time, didn’t make it there a few months back. So I’m definitely looking forward to your posts about the trip. Oh, and wine recommendations, of course!! 🙂 🙂

[…] now, with South America within my reach, I have suddenly realized that I have a bit of a passport […]

That is AWESOME! I wish I could be your guide on this trip. I love Santiago – you have to know what to look for though. I hope you are flying across the Andes to get to Mendoza and not drive. Argentina border control/customs can take a LONG time, I was warned many times when I lived in Santiago and was contemplating driving over. I ended up taking the very short flight over for like $70 round trip!! I have written about Santiago and Mendoza in my blog – check it out and let me know if you need other info!!

Ooh exciting! I’ve never been to South America, for some reason I find the idea daunting even though I’ve travelled quite a bit now. I can’t wait to read all about your next adventure!
