You Belong Somewhere You Feel Free.

You Belong Somewhere You Feel Free.

I know it isn’t Music Monday, but there is a song that I just wanted to share with you all. It isn’t brand new, but it is to me, since I heard it for the first time this weekend.

Sitting with my parents in their dining room, we were eating lunch on Saturday discussing the idea that I was considering taking a solo trip around the world. A few years ago, this may have caused some alarm from my parents, but not anymore. Instead, they are behind me one hundred percent. I’ve traveled many times by myself, and in the trip I was day dreaming up, I would be revisiting many of the continents I had already been to, so there was no fear of the unknown for them. Of course, this time it would be for an extended period of time.

We were discussing possible details of what I had dreamed up, when all of a sudden, I heard from the radio, “You belong somewhere you feel free.”

I walked over to the radio and raised the volume; the song just spoke to me.

Unlike the lyrics to the song, I am in no way planning this to run away, I don’t believe that is what a trip around the world is about. For me, it is about nothing more than a dream to see the world and discover more about the people and cultures that reside here; it is something I have always wanted to do.

Again, nothing is set in stone, and this is all the very beginning of a very wonderful idea, however, I wanted to share the song that seemed to come as a confirmation through the airwaves that this is what I should be doing. Take a listen and read the lyrics below. As for the trip around the world, I will certainly be keeping you posted.

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, find you a lover
Go away somewhere all bright and new
I have seen no other
Who compares with you

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worry
You belong somewhere you feel free
You belong somewhere you feel free

Spread the love

I had a feeling something along these lines was going to be announced! Hope you get the opportunity to do it – I think everyone who wants to – should! It is such an important, eye opening experience and there is so much to be gained! I am guessing this is more of a when than an if – once that seed is firmly planted…it keeps growing! Excitement is growing!

Yea, been seriously considering it lately. Don’t know when else I’ll have the chance. Just need a few minor details to work out and then, the real planning will be underway. I’d like to leave in 2014, so it’s a lot to get ready for! We’ll discuss at TBEX. xx

    Nice post!
Little clues always seem to pop out at us as we venture closer to what seems to be the right path, its always a great feeling. Here is a post we did earlier on those same kind of little clues we found littering our trails. http://aroundforhappiness.blogspot.ca/2012/11/concrete-words.html
    Hope you enjoy.

It’s always very funny to have those clues pop up here and there, isn’t it? Excited to read your post!

Me too, especially because there’s already been quite a big bump in the road.

so excited for you, erin!! i will say this: everything that stresses you out leading up to a long-term trip–and there are a LOT of things that stress you out–automatically disappears once you get on the plane. i can’t speak for how i’ll feel once it’s over and we have some starting over to do, but at the moment, it’s the best decision we’ve ever made. xo! the romantic

Having started over a couple times after my various adventures…I have to say, there will be return stresses, but they will all be worth it! My first major trip was awesome and I learned so much…my second major trip was even better…and who knows what the next will bring! You can always start over, but you can never go back! Happy travels!
