SA Sunday: Reasons to Head to Ecuador.

SA Sunday: Reasons to Head to Ecuador.

Ecuador is another country I know very little about, but that is part of the reason why I wish to visit it one day. Sometimes the unknown can surprise us in ways we’ve never imagined.

While I knew a bit about Ecuador before writing this post, I did find other reasons to visit the South American country.

The Galápagos Islands

This is probably the one things I did know about Ecuador – the famed Galápagos Islands. Darwin may have made these islands famous, but it’s the pictures I’ve seen from other travelers that make me long to visit them. The unique animals and beauty of the landscape is something I must see for myself.

I’m a sucker for a good beach town, and Montanita Beach in Ecuador seems to be everything I love about the beach and more. It’s a prime spot for surfing, something I still have to learn how to do, and the main street looks like it’s straight out of a tropical paradise.

Machalilla National Park
This national park, Ecuador’s only coastal one, includes a rainforest, as well as a beautiful beach. Also in the park, Isla de la Plata, which has been lovingly named “the poor man’s Galápagos.”

Mindo Rainforest
Having never really been in a rainforest myself, the chance to spend time in one is definitely appealing. To spend the day hiking near waterfalls and looking at the animals and plants that live here sounds like the perfect way to spend my time.

Baños
High in the Andes, lies these hot mineral baths, heated by a nearby volcano. There are other activities to do in the area, like explore the Amazon, but, these hot baths are definitely what would draw me to Baños.

I still feel that I have much to learn about Ecuador, and what better way than to visit the South American country for myself.
