Adventures at Home Series. [VIDEO]

Last December, I decided that 2012 would be the year that I would fully immerse myself in life, whether I was traveling or at home. This was easy while abroad, but not something I was really good at while at home.

Instead, at home I would complain and dream of traveling elsewhere. I didn’t realize the beauty of the place that I was born and raised; I didn’t appreciate it. I was at my happiest while traveling, but I needed to translate that to my life in America.

Then, through an interesting span of events, that’s exactly what happened. Fast forward almost a year later, and while I’ve had quite the year of travel, I’ve also had plenty of adventures at home. I discovered new passions, tasted new foods, learned more about the place I live, and overall, experienced life the way I experience it while traveling. It has been one incredible year.

While that was 2012’s goal, my goal for 2013 is to continue find the adventure in my own backyard and earn a greater appreciation for my home country through a new series. This series, Adventures at Home, will take me around my local area to discover all that I can do just miles away.

So, without further ado, here is my very first episode…

  1. Traveling Ted

I wish you had an installment on Guyana. I could have used some tips. Nice start to the series.

    1. The World Wanderer

Maybe you should make one for Guyana and then I can use it for my trip to SA this summer! What do you think? πŸ˜‰

      1. Traveling Ted

I would like to, but I am not much of a videographer. Maybe I will learn at TBEX.

I love that you’ve gotten into video. Fantastic…plus I admire your pledge to yourself. It really seems as if you accomplished that goal this year.

Thanks, RaΓΊl! Yes, it’s hard to get yourself out there and explore at home, but once you start, it’s hard to stop! I have so many ideas brewing for this series. πŸ™‚

I truly enjoyed this first installment of Adventures At Home. I love the concept, too. I’ve done something similar, a series I call “Hometown Travel”. It’s an excellent way to to get in the travel mindset while we’re between trips. I look forward to seeing the next episode!

    1. The World Wanderer

Yes, hometown travel is the absolute best! I used to live my life waiting for my next trip, but now I get to experience the excitement of traveling all the time. I love reading about your home adventures too. They inspire me to get my butt to your part of our country. πŸ˜‰

      1. Francesca

        Yes, COME VISIT! πŸ™‚

And I forgot to mention in my first comment that I really dig your song choice for this video. Nicely done!

        1. The World Wanderer

I will!! We can make a video together! πŸ™‚

Thank you! It’s Mountain Sound by Of Monsters and Men. We seem to like similar music. My other choice was Hopeless Wanderer by Mumford and Sons, but it didn’t go as well with the video. πŸ™‚

          1. Francesca

OMG YES MUMFORD AND SONS! Hopeless Wanderer is one of my faves, and also my mobile’s ringtone πŸ™‚ I really like Of Monsters and Men, too. We need to hang out soon!

  9. Christina
