Reflecting on 2011.

Reflecting on 2011.

This is my favorite time of year. The close of one chapter and the beginning of another. A time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future.

Last year, Google put out a video, Zeitgeist 2010: Year in Review, based on how the world searched in 2010. I used the video in class, explaining what zeitgeist meant, “the spirit of the times.” Then I had my students reflect on their year by creating their own personal year in review, just as Google did. They could make a song, create a collage, scrapbook, film a video, write an essay. I accepted any project that helped best to portray their year. The activity was one the students loved, and I was hoping Google would come out with another one for 2011.

Luckily, I was not disappointed because they recently released another video: Zeitgeist 2011: Year In Review. It sums up the year perfectly in an uplifting manner. I plan on using the project again this year, and I am eager to show this to my class. Enjoy!
