A Playlist for Holiday Travel.

A Playlist for Holiday Travel.

Music, to me, is one of the most important aspects of travel. There are songs to discover in a new place, but there are also those songs that get us through the tough travel moments. The moments we need to sleep, drown out screaming children, or to just be alone in our thoughts. This is why a playlist is one of the most important items you can “pack” to bring along with you.

Delays in transit, taken by my friend Lara on our way to Scotland last December.

The holidays are one of the most stressful times to travel, especially here on the East Coast, where the threat of snow is always lingering during those winter months. Patience is important, but without the right music on your playlist, it isn’t always easy to keep cool.

So what’s on my playlist this holiday season? Here are a few of my current favorites:

The Civil Wars: Poison & Wine and Barton Hollow

Young the Giant: Apartment and Typhoon

Florence and the Machine: Shake It Out and What the Water Gave Me

Lana Del Rey: Video Games and Blue Jeans

Cœur de pirate: Adieu and Ensemble

Dawes: When My Time Comes and Time Spent in Los Angeles

Ryan Adams: Lucky Now and I Love You But I Don’t Know What to Say

Fiest: How Come You Never Go There and The Bad In Each Other

Mumford and Sons: Hopeless Wanderer and Home

Bierut: Santa Fe and Elephant Gun
