“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”
It took me a long time to understand that happiness is something I must constantly work on. Each and every day, it’s my job to work on my happiness. I need to do what it is that makes me happy. Sometimes it’s spending time with people I love, other times it’s time alone. Sometimes it’s mediation, other times it’s a l. Sometimes it’s chocolate, other times it’s…well, chocolate.
Either way, I know that what keeps my happiness in check is doing things that I love. So, what keeps me the happiest is travel. It doesn’t have to be a huge adventure, but it does have to involve discovering something new.
Travel is my happiness. I learned this a long time ago, and I know that I will continue to travel the world in search of it. I carry it inside of me as I go, but there is nothing like travel to keep my happiness in check.
