“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.”
Maybe we cannot prevent bigotry in this world, but what we can do, and what travel allows us to do, is to meet people from around the world. By meeting, we can realize that humans are all the same. Maybe we speak different languages, live in different homes, have different professions, different skin colors, and religions, but deep down inside of us, where it really counts, we have the same feelings and emotions. That realization can connect us better than anything else.
