With August officially here, summer can be quite depressing if you’ve just returned from a trip, or if you don’t have travel plans.
However, there are several ways to fix that and feel like you’ve had a little escape.
Take a Mental Vacation
The Travel Channel posts Daily Escapes each day, they are, “A vacation for your brain.” Just looking at the picture takes you away, and it’s the perfect quick fix for the vacation blues.
Take a Day and Just Relax
Get a kiddie pool and fill it with cold water. Then make yourself a margarita, or a tropical drink of your choice, and lie out on your deck, porch, or patio with your feet in the pool. Grab a couple magazines and books, put on your sunglasses, and turn off your phone. You are officially on vacation. Playing Bob Marley also usually helps set the mood.
No outside space? Head to a local park, put on your i-Pod, and let yourself float away.
Have a Spa Day
One of the best parts about vacation is when you get to relax. Either head to the spa for a day, or save money by creating your own. Fill up the bathtub, light some candles, play soothing music, put on a mask, paint your nails, and refresh. Tip: This can be made even better if you can rope someone into giving you a massage.
Take a Day Trip
Find somewhere near your home that is a quick drive or train ride away. Even just spending a day somewhere new can be enough to revitalize you and keep you going. Explore a new town, lie on the beach, or hike some mountains. If you do some research, you’ll be sure to find an adventure nearby.
Book a Getaway
The most expensive fix is to book a vacation for the near future. Give yourself something to look forward to. This is my favorite fix, which is why I’m planning another trip for December.
