What’s in My TSA Approved 3-1-1 Bag:

Sigh, the 3-1-1 bag rule for liquids. This used to be the a difficult task for someone who only travels in a carry-on, until companies started creating airline approved quantities of almost every brand of shampoos, conditioners, toothpastes, etc.

As much as I love browsing around Harmon, which happens to have the best collection of airline approved liquids, I have found that there are certain items you should take and others that should just be left out.

For example, I do not waste time including bottles of shampoo, conditioner, or body wash in my bag. These are all products that are easily accessible upon arrival to a destination, plus the small bottles never seem to last for the length of my trips either way.

So, what do I always include:

Vaseline
Dehydrated lips, dry cuticles, blistering feet: Vaseline can be a life saver on a trip. It’s definitely needed for the plane ride.

Toothpaste
While you can pick up toothpaste once at your destination, I recommend keeping a travel-size one handy while traveling. After my sixteen hour flight to Hong Kong, I know I’ll feel better if I can at least brush my teeth before my second flight to Thailand. (Another good option is to get a pack of Colgate Wisps. Though, personally, I prefer the real thing.)

Living Proof No Frizz
From Bermuda to The Bahamas, this product has been my lifesaver and I recommend it to everyone I know. When used, I’m actually able to straighten my hair and not worry about it for a few days (I always bring dry shampoo with me as well). It also, conveniently, comes in a travel size (2oz) bottle, making it the easy solution to vacation hair.

Saline Nasal Mist
I use this product on a daily basis to clear up congestion, so I wouldn’t think twice about bringing it away with me. It’s also perfect for long plane rides, and improving your ability to breathe. If you’ve ever felt congested after a plane ride, here’s your solution.

Concealer
I don’t bring a lot of make-up away with me, especially if the weather is going to be warm, but concealer is something I never forget. Break-outs are bound to happen, so it’s better to be prepared.

Perfume
It’s hard to see in the picture, but as far as perfume goes, I bring tiny sample bottles. I save them as I get them from stores for this purpose. You’ll smell great without having to worry about lugging your large, glass bottle of perfume with you.

Facial Moisturizer
Skin gets dry in the air, so bring a moisturizer to slather on your face several times during the flight. You’ll walk off the plane feeling refreshed and more human. It can also be used on dry hands or to smooth out fly-aways in your hair.

Mascara
I need mascara, so I always make sure I bring a small travel size bottle. Usually, when ordering on-line from Sephora, you can pick three free samples, this is when I make sure to pick up some mascara.

This year’s most recent additions are:

Yes to Tomatoes: Blemish Spot Stick
Blemishes happen, especially when it’s hot and you plan on doing a lot of walking or physical activity. This spot stick works wonders, and it’s easy to store.

Poo-pourri
This is one of my favorite products, and, honestly, there’s no reason that this shouldn’t be in your 3-1-1 bag. Hotel rooms are small, no one needs to know you used the bathroom but you.

Sleep Tite
I’ve mentioned this product countless times, and even though it’s rather large, I would bring it no matter where you are staying. Even the nicest hotels can be plagued with bed bugs.

I plan on keeping this bag right next to me on the plane, with easy access to any products I may need. My suggestion for everyone is to keep a few essentials with you, even if you are checking your luggage. Items like toothpaste, Poo-pourri, and a little make-up always come in handy, especially in the world of flight delays and cancellations. Anything to make you feel more like yourself while traveling, is an absolute must.

Spread the love
